Roof Soft Washing and Algae Stain Removal in Largo
The black stripes creeping down your slopes are living algae, not grime. We clear them with a low-pressure wash that kills the growth and leaves the shingle surface intact.

Why pressure washers are the wrong tool
A pressure washer will take the streaks off, and a good share of the granules with them. Those granules are what shade the asphalt from the sun, so blasting them away ages the roof faster than the algae ever did.
Soft washing works the other way round. A cleaning solution is applied at about the pressure of a garden hose, left to work on the growth, and rinsed off gently. The algae dies back to the surface instead of being scoured off it, and the shingles keep their protective layer.
What the wash takes care of
Black algae streaks
The dark stripes that show up first on north-facing and shaded slopes.
Moss and lichen
Green growth that holds moisture against the shingles and lifts their edges.
Leaf litter and debris
Cleared from valleys and gutters so water runs off the way it should.
How a soft wash runs
Cover and soak
Plants are wetted and covered, and downspouts are checked so the rinse goes where it should.
Apply and wait
The solution goes on at low pressure and sits long enough to work on the growth.
Gentle rinse
We rinse the roof and the ground below, then check every slope for missed spots.
Soft washing questions
How soon after washing can you treat the roof?
Once the shingles are completely dry, usually after a day or two of good weather. We often book the wash and the treatment close together.
Will the streaks come back?
In our climate, algae returns eventually. How fast depends on shade and moisture. A maintenance plan can include a light wash when it starts to show.
Is it safe for my plants?
We wet and cover beds before we start and rinse everything afterwards. Tell us about any plants you are especially careful with.
Ready to see the roof's real color again?
Ring us and we will identify the growth on your roof and price the wash, with or without a treatment to follow.
